Janel M. Cross
Janel M. Cross has served as a financial advisor since 2001. During that time, she has developed both technical expertise, in aspects such as plan design, and the uncommon ability to relate to individuals and retirement plan participants in a way that makes financial information understandable and actionable. Janel’s attention to detail is essential in the areas of plan design, fiduciary issues, investment menu construction, performance review, and platform cost analysis. She is also committed to ensuring that Align Financial Services Group assists every person at the highest level to support them in pursuing a secure financial future. Finally, Janel and her team are especially passionate about financial education and its direct relationship with employee productivity and engagement.
Janel is a graduate of Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in biomathematics. She earned her FINRA Series 7 securities registration in 2001. Janel is also Series 65 registered and fully licensed in life, accident, and health insurance. She recently completed her master of science degree in financial services at The American College and earned her Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation.
In the community, Janel served as the first female president and chair of the board for Sertoma Club of Lancaster and as board member of the Long’s Park Amphitheater Foundation. She is currently an active member of the Lancaster County Business Group on Health and the Lancaster County Association of Human Resource Managers. Her favorite things are spending time with her husband, Tom; sons, Connor and Jackson; daughter, Catherine; and their golden retriever, Duncan.
Tom Cross brings more than 20 years of experience in the 401(k) industry to our team. His career with industry-leading companies such as Merrill Lynch, Lincoln, Acensus, and most recently Great West Retirement Services, has spanned the entire 401(k) process. From recordkeeping and administration to plan and client relationship management, Tom has a practical understanding of how your corporate plan functions at every level. At Align, Tom’s efforts are concentrated on assisting our office with connecting directly with our plan participants. Whether that means helping to deliver a group session on the value of participation, conducting a workshop on the plan’s website resources, or meeting one-on-one to help employees enroll in their plan, Tom’s focus is to deliver effective financial education that positively affects employee productivity and engagement.
A 1994 graduate of Kutztown University with a B.S. in business administration, Tom is a two-time All-conference soccer team captain, and now a world-renowned duck-pin bowler. He holds his FINRA Series 7 securities registration and state insurance license. In his spare time, Tom enjoys rooting for his beloved Philadelphia sports teams or coaching his son’s teams. He lives in Denver, PA, with his wife, Janel; their children Connor, Jackson, Catherine; and their golden retriever, Duncan.
Jesse Steffy believes true sustainability includes, but reaches beyond, the environment and requires thinking and acting beyond ourselves. Graduating during a time period marred with greed and scandal, Jesse has always been passionate about empowering individuals to take control of their financial future and be good stewards. With Align FSG, Jesse saw the opportunity to bring meaningful financial education to companies, employees, and individuals, empowering people to take control of their finances and view money as a tool of possibility through planning and investing.
Benefiting from four years of experience as a residential construction laborer, Jesse is in a unique position to help others realize the value of providing true, honest, transparent financial education in an understandable fashion to people of all backgrounds. Jesse earned a BA in business administration from Ithaca College with concentrations in management and environmental law. He devotes his leisure time to mentoring others in entrepreneurship, enjoying the outdoors, and traveling with his wife, Shannon, and three kids.
Tina Hileman came to Align FSG part-time in 2011 to bolster the quickly growing practice’s administrative processing in order to stay responsive to client requests and provide excellent customer service. After a 35-year career as an administrative manager with a broad spectrum of experience encompassing virtually all aspects of business management including accounting, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and human resources, Tina is a vital component of our client service experience.
Outside of the office, Tina enjoys her three grandchildren, the outdoors, gardening, and traveling with her husband, Jay.
